Position Teacher (Title 5)

Basic Assignments Responsible for management and supervision of children between the ages of 5-11. Must have the physical ability to lead and interact in activities and games with children, monitor behavior, participation in curriculum activities, as well as, housekeeping responsibilities and any other duties that apply herein. Must be highly dependable and willing to fulfill the job responsibilities in accordance with program goals. Must relate well to children and adults. Reports to the Child Care Director. The current open shift is from Mon-Fri from 6:30am to 9am.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have High School Diploma/GED
  • Must hold or be deemed to hold a Child Development Teacher Permit .
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse community.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner appropriate tasks as needed to function without direct supervisors assistance.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
  • Ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and procedures.
Major Functions
  • Plan and implementation of daily program under the direction of the Site Supervisor.
  • Assist in bi-annual DRDP-r and parent conferences.
  • Assist in planning and preparation of the creative learning environment, preparation of needed materials and supplies, as well as, create a safe, fun, and caring learning environment in standards with the SACERS, abiding by all licensing and title 5 requirements.
  • Ability to effectively communicate daily with parents, children, coworkers, site supervisor, and other appropriate staff.
  • Attend all staff meetings, trainings, and other appropriate functions that coordinate with job duties and functions.
  • Gear the program needs of the individual child with concern for his/her interests, special needs, special talents, style, and pace of learning.
  • Assist with general housekeeping tasks.
  • Supervise and lead activity areas.
