The YMCA of San Diego County Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Human Dignity Award annually honors an individual or group who has demonstrated extraordinary achievement and commitment in promoting the value and importance defined by the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Human Dignity Award nominations are open to all San Diego County individuals and organizations.
The Human Dignity Award recognizes:
- Contributions that reflect the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the most critical communities of the greater San Diego region;
- The reduction of prejudice and the promotion of integrity through the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility;
- The creation of inclusive opportunities for advancing youth from under served communities toward levels of continuing or higher education achieved by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
