COMMUNITY CARE LICENSING

The majority of child care centers and all family child care homes are licensed by the California Department of Social Services (DSS) Community Care Licensing division (CCL) to ensure that minimum health and safety standards are met.

You have the right and responsibility to review a potential child care provider’s public record for information on complaints or violations before placing your child in care. There are three ways to obtain this information from CCL.

1. Online: https://secure.dss.ca.gov/CareFacilitySearch/Search/ChildCare

2. By telephone: Call 1-844-538-8766. Health/Safety complaints and concerns about a provider may also be reported at the CCLD Complaint Hotline at 1-844-LET-US-NO.

3. In person: Make an appointment by calling 619-767-2200 to view the files in person at:

Community Care Licensing, 7575 Metropolitan Dr., Suite 110, San Diego, CA 92108
