YMCA Childcare Resource Service is a department of the YMCA of San Diego County. We are committed to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Since we opened our doors in 1980 we have served more than a million children, families and child care providers. Through our Y, we foster education and development of early care professionals; provide resources and education for parents and help families pay for child care.
In 1980, CRS received funding from two contracts with the State Department of Education and operated out of one office. During that first year, CRS served 15,000 parents and children. Our Y has expanded to five offices throughout San Diego County. We currently serve more than 67,000 parents and children annually with a budget of over $30 million.
