Giving Back and Supporting our Neighbors
At the Y we are committed not to turn anyone away due to an inability to pay. The Y's scholarship program, supported in part by our Annual Giving Campaign, uses all of our available resources to provide financial support to those in need because we believe everyone should have the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve.
What is a scholarship?A scholarship offers you and your family the ability to participate as a Y member and/or program participant at a subsidized reduced rate.
How do I qualify?Submit a completed scholarship application along with your proof of income to the Welcome Center. We use a sliding scale based on your income and dependents to determine what you qualify for. Child care and camp programs will approve the scholarship within 48 hours, membership and all other programs are reviewed and approved within three to five business days. Information will be kept confidential.
The following documents may be used as proof of income:
- 1040 tax return
- Two current pay stubs
- Disability document
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Document
How long will I benefit from the scholarship?
As long as you need it however you are approved for one year at a time. For membership it is recommended you apply for the scholarship 45 days prior to expiration to ensure no interruptions to your membership.
We want everyone to have access to our programs, and this year we can do more than ever before. In addition to our community outreach efforts, we are able to provide scholarships to help more people access our facilities and programming regardless of economic situation. If you are interested in applying for scholarships please contact the Welcome Center.
