BUILDING Global COMMUNITYThe YMCA of San Diego County supports strengthening the global community, locally and in other countries, ensuring access and inclusion and empowering youth and adults to be global citizens. We do that through these efforts:
- Global Service - Trips for relief or development, youth exchange, service learning and cross-cultural education.
- Community Engagement of immigrant and newcomer populations.
- Diversity & Inclusion of staff, participant, volunteer and members through education, programming and leadership development.
Today the Y is in 125 countries across Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East and North America. Locally governed and managed, Ys serve people of all faiths, races, abilities, ages and incomes.
The YMCA of San Diego County is recognized by the YMCA of the USA as a Global Center for Excellence (GCE). The GCE is a group of pioneer YMCA Associations committed to creating and replicating global best practices at home and abroad.

Bridge the Gap
We celebrated our Bridge the Gap program year-end with a luncheon. This year-long program of 70 participants was grant funded from Bank of America and provided an opportunity for participants to obtain tools and resources for career advancement. Forty seven percent were successful in advancing their career.
